Stouffer's French Bread Pizza Review
I really loved Stouffers when growing up, and I remember cooking the pizzas and burning the roof of my mouth. The pizzas would get so hot. That boiling sauce underneath the cheese was just waiting to attack. It was always better to wait 10 minutes before eating, but who could wait?
How To Cook Stouffer's French Bread Pizza
Stouffer's French bread pizzas are oven baked for a golden crispy crust. Preheat the oven to 375 degrees, remove the pizzas from the box and the plastic wraps. Then, put the pizzas on a baking tray and place them on the center rack of the oven. Cook the pizzas for 26 minutes until golden brown.
The French bread pizzas were easy to cook. I preheated the oven to 375 degrees, as the packaged instructed, but only cooked them for 22 minutes. The pizzas came out of the oven exactly on time, and they looked good. My first impression was that this was going to taste delicious.
Stouffers French Bread Pizzas In the Air Fryer
To cook Stouffers Pizzas in an air fryer, preheat the air fryer to 400 degrees. Place the pizzas on the rack of the air fryer and set the timer for 6 minutes. Remove the pizzas from the air fryer and let sit for 2 to 3 minutes before slicing. They will be hot!
I am not a fan of frozen pizzas, especially when there are so many great pizza parlors that sling fantastic pizza pies. Frozen pizzas are fine in a pinch and Stouffers Frozen French Bread pizza fits the bill perfectly.
I expected them to be very hot, so I waited a few minutes before cutting into the pizzas. The sauce seemed to disappear, but I knew that it was waiting for me under the cheese.
The pizza crust turned out very crispy and crunchy. Tasting like french bread should. I was pleasantly surprised by the taste of the pizza sauce because It had a hint of basil and was a little on the sweet side. All in all, a good frozen pizza choice in a pinch or on a rainy day.
Who Sells Stouffers French Bread Pizza
The Nestlé food company, headquartered in Switzerland is the largest food conglomerate in the world and owns Stouffers. The French Bread pizzas are sold in most supermarkets and groceries throughout the United States and Canada. Wherever frozen foods are available. The pizzas are also available at major retailers like Walmart, Target and Amazon.

Stouffer's is not the darling of today's hip pizzas but it still tastes good. Newman's and Amy's frozen pizzas are taking over the frozen pizza aisle. Even frozen cauliflower crust pizzas have appeared, but I still like my Stouffer's. It is hot, crispy, tasty and fast. What's not to like? But, we can do better.

What You Will Need For French Bread Pizzas
Starting with a loaf of country style soft french bread, you'll need, pizza sauce, low moisture shredded mozzarella, pepperoni slices and Parmesan. If you want to change this pizza up, go right ahead. The basics are the same. Add veggies like green peppers and black olives or California toppings like sun-dried tomatoes, spinach and goat cheese.
But today on Throwdown Kitchen were sticking with our copycat version of Stouffer's.
Last week we showed you how to make no knead French bread loaves. If you want to take the extra time to do that, the pizzas will be incredible. But this week it's all about speed and easy to make at home. So go ahead and pick up a French bread loaf.
How To Make French Bread Pizza
Start by slicing a French Bread loaf (1) down the middle and lay the 2 pieces open. By the way, don't use a crusty thin French Baguette. Find a country style loaf, which is softer, or use a no knead soft french bread recipe.
The French bread pizza hack here is to toast the bread lightly before saucing and topping the bread because if you don't be pre-toast the bread, then you run the risk of having a soggy pizza. Nobody likes a soggy pizza. I think that's why French bread pizza is so good. Because it gets crispy crunchy on the outside while staying fluffy on the inside.
What I like to do is turn the oven to broil and watch carefully until the top of the French bread loaf is developing a nice golden color. Only the top, not the bottom of the loaf. The bottom will get nice and toasty on its own when it goes into the oven.
I'll go ahead and remove the bread and then turn my oven setting to 425 degrees. My oven is preheated and very hot to cook my pizzas.
Bring the toasted French bread out of the oven and spread pizza sauce (2 tbsp) on each side. If you like your pizza with heavy sauce, feel free to add more pizza sauce. That's' the way I like them, a little more sauced.
Next is the mozzarella cheese. Use low moisture mozzarella cheese because it melts more evenly. Spread the shredded mozzarella (1 cup) evenly across the French bread pizzas.
Pepperoni Is The Ultimate Topping
Finally, comes the pepperoni. Spread out the pepperoni slices (4 ounces) evenly across the pizza halves. I like the little circles of pepperoni more so than deli slices of pepperoni. As they cook, the smaller pepperoni curl up and create little pockets of delightful pepperoni oil that add to the experience.
That, plus they are much easier to eat. If you have ever bitten into a large slice of deli meat on a pizza slice and had all the meat and cheese slide off, then you know what I mean.
I like to put a little mozzarella on top of the pepperoni just to kind of hold it together and, when nobody is looking a few more slices of pepperoni.
That's' it. Pop the tray of French bread pizzas into the oven at 425 degrees for 10 to 12 minutes.
Beautiful. It'll come out of the oven with the cheese hot and bubbly. The pepperoni will have started to crisp and the smell will be amazing. This is a great game day treat as well but also an easy-to-make week night dinner. Pair it up with a side salad and dinner is good to go. Enjoy!
